You all know that I love watercolors (okay, so I love <i>most</i> mediums... shhhh!). They are not only vibrant and colorful, but also so fun to work with. They have a certain style to them that is fun and artsy.</div>

<b>DIY Faux Watercolor Coloring.</b></div>

For this technique you'll need water based markers. What I used, and recommend, are <a href="http://tombowusa.com/craft/markers.html">Tombow's Dual Brush Pens</a>. I used the set of secondary colors and they blended really nicely.<br />

1. Stamp your image onto watercolor paper. This is optional, but if you're coloring a stamped image like me, go ahead and stamp it. :)<br />

2. Color with one of your markers onto a craft mat. It doesn't have to be a craft mat, but you need a non stick surface that the ink won't stick to. Try a craft mat, freezer paper, a palette, or an acrylic block.<br />

3. Dip your paintbrush in a small dish of water to moisten it, then rub it over the ink to pick it up.<br />

4. Use your paint brush and color in your image, as you would with normal watercolors.<br />

Colorado astrophotography

Southern Colorado has one of most amazing night skies I've ever seen! Where I was staying was about 30 minutes away from the closest town, and even that town was tiny. So there was no light pollution.</div>

Since there is only 1 week until Christmas Eve (!!!)  I wanted to squeeze in another Christmas project that you can make in only a day! <b><i>Christmas Treat Tins for your pets!</i></b></div>

I created these treat tins out of recycled, empty Pirouline Tins and used a bit of air dry clay to customize them to different animals, for example- fish for cat, bone for dog and a tomato for my guinea pig!</div>

1. Cut your paper down to fit your tin. You want it to wrap completely around the fit from the bottom up to where the lid slides on.</div>

2. Use your foam brush to apply decoupage medium onto the back of your paper.</div>

3. Wrap your paper around your tin.</div>

4. While your glue is drying, grab your tin lid and paint it white. It took a couple of coats to cover the print, and you can still see the embossed areas, but that doesn't bother me.</div>

If you don't want to see the embossed/raised images on the lid, try covering it with paper or air dry clay.</div>

Now I'm going to show you how to make the 3 shapes I used- bone, fish and tomato, but feel free to get creative and try your own shapes! A mouse, perhaps? Or a carrot? Whatever your furry friend likes.</div>

1. Sculpt a pinch of clay into a 1" ball. Use wet fingers to try and smooth out and lumps.</div>

3. Use a craft knife to cut it into a star shape, as shown.</div>

4. Place the star shape on top of the tomato, and a really tiny ball of clay on top for a stem.</div>

 Here on the blog I've already shared<a href="http://www.punkprojects.com/2015/01/reasons-to-keep-art-journal.html"> reasons why I keep an art journal</a> (and maybe reasons you should), and they're all still true. I keep an art journal because I need it to turn how I'm feeling into art.<br />
Some people do more actual "journaling" in their art journals, but I love quotes and I like to use my journal to document those quotes. Usually they fit how I'm feeling that day or week, etc.<br />
